News & Updates

March 7, 2005
We have completed the move to a new hosting company. We're also rebuilding our backend system. In the next few weeks our editors will begin working through the backlog of work. When the backlog is cleared, then we'll start working on the submission process.

beatthief

keeping it real since 95 beatthief has been pushing poetry, design and sound on the www. having nothing to do with "beat" generation (we are not fans actually), beatthief (thief of beats) is a small collection of beats, samples and pieces of culture. while music provides the beats and focus, it does not exist in a vacuum. images, words and other artistic expression provide context in which to create tension and release.

Submission Guidelines
we are always looking for quality writing. we do not pay. both poetry and first person stories (true life shit). brevity is best. we don't want to do a lot of extra work to publish your stuff, so look at the site and see whats up there, see how it is formatted. notice that we use graphics for every page and that we pay attention to graphic design. so it would be nice if you had images in mind, etc. even nicer if you know photoshop. on the other tip, we are even more interested in graphic designs, visual artists who want to drop JPEGs or whatnot on us. we will publish that faster than the text. also check out the music content on our site to see what kind of music we like. we would love to get some critical writing and audio samples about sly and the family or tribe called quest. of course email before you send anything to see what's up with us.
